  4. My article is about exports and volunteers that are treating four pilot whales that came up on Florida’s Atlantic coast. The whales were among twenty two other whales and they got separated from each other. These four whales are being treated at Florida Atlantic University’s Harbor Branch. They are eating a thin fish formula fed through tubes and they are eating this every four hours. Out of these whales, two are male and three are female.
One male whale had shown signs of being good but then unexpectedly died around noon on Monday the 3rd. There was also a mother whale that sadly did not make it and left her calf with the others. The other few whales that are left all show signs of inflammation and infection. They are now swimming by them self but are kept on watch in case anything bad happens. No one knows how the five whales got separated from the other 17 but they think those 17 whales died or were euthanized.

my article is about a conveyor belt a conveyor belt is a machine that increases production of an item by alot. they use conveyor belts in factorys before there were conveyor belts production of an item took a lot longer.
this relates to history because in the civil war production of cotton used to take a long time and was hand picked by slaves but then the cotton gin came along and cotton became produced faster and thats how a conveyor belt relates to history.

    Summary
This article is about a new smartphone app that lets you reserve a yellow taxi in New York City. Uber introduced the app to be used in 105 taxis and started on Wednesday. The app is controversial because it breaks city rules. One rule says that you can’t have a prearranged yellow taxi ride. The app breaks another rule stating that cabbies can’t refuse fares unjustifiably which is important because if a cabbie accepts a prearranged ride, nobody else can ride in the taxi. New York’s Taxi and Limousine Commission has still not decided if the app should be used, so this app still could go away.

This article is similar to trains during the Civil War. This is because trains were and are still used to transport things and people, and were mostly used by the Northern part of the United States. Today this app is used to help taxi drivers transport people, and will mostly be used by people with smartphones. They are also similar because trains were new technology back then, and this app is new technology now. Those are reasons why trains from the Civil War and this app are similar.

My article is about the upcoming iPhone5. It is told in this article that the iPhone5 is going to be a huge step in the world of technology. It is supposed to bring more data, more apps, and overall be more technologic than any other previous smartphone. It has been rumored that the phone should be released within a month or so, hoping that all goes well with the tweaks and all.
This article is a very big step in U.S. history. Esspecialy from the technology that was used say, 20 years ago. Phones themselves have obviously damaticly increased in technology and it will only get better and better. This new phone has so much more to offer than an ordinary phone such as, applications to schedule flights, find taxis, and MANY MANY MORE. There is even a system called "siri" and you basicialy tell it or ask it whatever you want and it'll give you the answer to whatever question you have and point you in the right direction.

  8. http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/01/drone-report/
This article was about unmanned airplanes. It says that about 31% of all aircrafts are now unmanned. The military has about 7,000 unmanned aircrafts when just 7 years ago they had 5% of all the military's aircrafts. It says that they are one of the most helpful things for surveillance. The military has spent 92 billion dollars on drones since 2001. It also brings up the fact that the drones are getting even safer so less crashes will occur. This probably means that there will more and more drones sent out for more surveillance.
This relates to the civil war because that was when they created more accurate weapons. That was a huge step in technology that made battles completely different, just like the drones which let us spy without putting pilots in danger of death or injury. They both change the future of battles and wars do to technology. Thats why unmanned aircraft drones and the very first rifles are similar.

  9. http://www.popsci.com/gadgets/article/2012-09/heres-whats-interesting-about-nokia-lumia-920

This article is about the new Lumia 920 smartphone. It has a giant screen, and it is a lot faster than the previous Lumia smartphone, and it has a better camera. Also it has a new wireless way to recharge itself with no plug, by having a magnetic pannel to put the phone on it,so it will be a lot easier to charge, and it saves electricity, they like to call the pannel a pillow.
This reminds me of the industrial Revolution, because they were creating new inventions, and they were improving their older invention to make things easier. This reminds me of the steamboat, because they were using boats that was taking them a along time to transport goods, and when they made the steamboat they were getting things to and from a lot faster, kind of like the new Lumia smartphone, it makes everything faster on the phone.

This article is about the iphone 5. It is supposed to come out September 12, 2012. The Iphone 5 is going to have better apps, better data, and a better size. Hopefully they can fix all the problems before the Iphone 5 goes on sale. They Iphone 5 is going to be a little bit smaller than the Iphone 4s. You can also pre-order your Iphone 5 on the same day it starts to go on sale. They have already started on the next Iphone 5.
20-30 years ago the cell phone was invented. They have come a long way since then. Cell phone use has increased so much since 30 years ago. We pretty much have everything we need on our phones. We don't need computers anymore, because we can search everything on our phones. i can't wait for the Iphone 5 to come out.

Apple is attempting to eliminate the use of Google maps on new apple devices. Granted there will always be a way to access Google maps, but apple intends to remove the use of other companies’ software on the irremovable factory set apps. The new maps produced by apple, however, are not as satisfactory as Google’s maps. This step backward has angered many of apple’s customers and will definitely reduce the profit of the newly released iphone 5. As stated in the article, there are many people who have relied on Google maps and will not accept change. Apple claims that the only way for their customers to become satisfied is if they receive customer feedback. Some of this feedback includes not enough detail, bad translations, and not enough helpful tools (ex: train station departure time) like Google maps all had. This relates to the invention of barbed wire. One man was trying to eliminate the bulls from roaming on his land so he designs a cheap and effective fence that can contain the cows and eliminates cowboys. This is similar to apple’s new maps because they were trying to remove Google from their devices just like how the man was trying to eliminate the cows.

This article is about a new study on trying to cure cancer. New technology allows doctors to examine the patient's DNA and tumors in less time and for a smaller cost. By looking at the DNA doctors can determine what kind of treatment would best benefit the of the patient.

  13. http://automotivediscovery.com/chevy-volt-getting-bullied-again/9214951/

I did my article on the Chevy Volt. This new 2013 car runs on both electric and gas. When it has a full charge and a full tank of gas, you can drive for 380 miles. You only need to take your car to a gas station once a month! The Volt has an advanced lithium-ion battery which allows you to drive without using gas. To turn on the car you push a blue button. It is programmed to respond to different driving modes. This includes: normal- drives like a convention car, sport-more aggressive feedback, and mountain-reserves power for going up long steep hills. The Volt it also very safe.
The invention of the Chevy Volt is similar to the invention of the Transcontinental Railroad. The railroad was a cheaper way to trade good throughout America. The Volt is cheaper because you are spending less money on gas. The railroad made it quicker to go from east to west. And the Volt makes your trip quicker because you won’t have to stop as often to get gas. While the railroad was a more economical and faster way to transport goods throughout America, the Volt is more economical because it uses less gas. Both the railroad and the Volt represent the future of transportation when they were built.

  14. This article was about the iPhone 5. It was how the IPhone 5 had just came out and some people waited 12 hours just to get it. This proves how much we need technology in our lives. Also with the I phone five it I now thinner and apparently faster. But their have been some complaints about It how the charging dock is to small and that even though they do have adapters sometimes they can malfunction. I related this to what we have been learning in class which is the rail road and how in the 1876 it was like an upgrade in their technology just like the IPhone five Is a upgrade in or technology now. Also that when the people were complaining about the rail road how it brought more people well people were complaining about the I phone which proves that technology can always be upgraded like the rail road. Also that technology plays a important part in our lives. Without it we wouldn’t have ways of transportation connection to other people and so on and so forth.

  15. The iPhone 5 is the fastest, lightest iPhone out now. IPhone 5 is just 7.6 millimeters thin. To make that happen, Apple engineers had to think small. They created a Nano-SIM card, which is 44 percent smaller than a micro-SIM. They also developed a unique cellular solution for iPhone 5. The conventional approach to building LTE into a world phone uses two chips — one for voice, one for data. On iPhone 5, both are on a single chip. The intelligent, reversible Lightning connector is 80 percent smaller than the 30-pin connector. The 8MP iSight camera has even more features — like panorama and dynamic low-light mode — yet it’s 20 percent smaller. And the new A6 chip is up to 2x faster than the A5 chip but 22 percent smaller. Even with so much inside, iPhone 5 is 20 percent lighter and 18 percent thinner than iPhone 4S.This connects to class by back then they would make lots of technology but nothing like the iPhone 5. One thing they made is barb wire. Barb wire is a type of fencing wire constructed with sharp edges or points arranged at intervals along the strand. A person or animal trying to pass through or over barbed wire will suffer discomfort and possibly injury. So they did have the good technology like we did but what they had actually cane to good use.

  16. My article was about the new mobile telephone called the iPhone 5. It is an upgrade to the previous iPhone 4S. This new phone was released on September 21, 2012 and is 18% thinner and 20% lighter then the iPhone 4S. It has a new smaller dock connector into the phone. There is a larger screen on the new phone that will fit a new row of applications and higher definition screen. Apple also updated siri, the virtual assistant that is built into the phone, and made it faster and more reliable.

I related this article to the time of the reconstruction, specifically on the Transcontinental Railroad. They relate because the iPhone and its new features will change how people will communicate just like how the railroad would speed up communication in the 1800's. Trains would require less effort and less time to send a message all the way across the country. That is how my article and how it relates to what were learning now.

I did my blog post on the Samsung galaxy s3 commercials that were hating on the new iphone 5 that was coming out. This relates too what we were learning in class because in class we learned about hate crimes against blacks. Blacks were hated on by the whites because they were different and didn’t have the same skin color. Blacks also didn’t have the same rights and didn’t get too do the same things as whites did. This relates too my topic because in the commercial they were saying how dumb it was too get an iphone 5 because the next big thing was already here (Samsung galaxy s3) and they were saying how dumb the people were because the Samsung galaxy s3 was way better than the iphone 5.

I did my article on the Samsung Galaxy S ||| coming out in a smaller version. It is told that is will be a 4 inch version of the Galaxy S ||| thats out right now. It would have the same size screen as the new display on the IPhone 5. There would also be a 5MP camera and cheaper than Apples latest smartphone.

I am connecting this to the railroad that was being built. I think this connects to it because back then it was a big deal when the railroad was being built. and Now a days it is a big deal when a phone comes out. The railroad started out as a steam engine and now it i electric. The phones back then were big and different and now they are touch screens, and voice activated.

  23. I researched an article about a new way of space transportation. We figured out a way to get GPS satellites into orbit by having the just one rocket. We now only need one rocket to get the satellite out into space instead of two. According to NASA, we could save $50 million dollars per a satellite. This is a huge advancement in our technology, but affects our economy greatly also. The fund that was used to make previous rockets could be greatly reduced. Money is a big thing right now like it has always been, so this is time and money well spent. With this new discovery, we could use the money on many other things of great importance.
This relates to our history class because when the transcontinental railroad was made, there was much money saved from this quicker type of travel. Just like the research for the one rocket satellite, the railroad might have been expensive, but in the long run, it was time and money well spent. The U.S. citizens at the time must have also had been effected just

  24. This article talks about eight different people that could be the next "Steve Jobs." It will be a year on friday since his death. No one really knew who Jobs was until he produced the ipod and iphone.
There is a long list of people who are worth considering for this role, but a couple are- Jeff Bezos who is the CEO of Amazon. "I've met Bezos personally, and he is mesmeric. Brilliant smile, quick mind, very engaging and decisive," Kahney told CNN. Another very well known person is Mark Zuckerberg, he is said to have many characteristics of Jobs. The main one being his "pursuit of vision."
Steve Jobs envisioned the technology that allows our would instant access at our finger tips. These significant changes are similar to the American Industrial Revolution. The one thing that i think was an important invention was the building of the railroad. Because it made traveling and getting from place to place much easier. Also it brought great economic stability to tons of towns. Towns begin along the railroad lines and populations grew.

  25. The article that I picked is about the Iphone five. It says that the iphone is the best thing since the iphone was invented. It is just another advancement in technology and im sure there will be many more to follow. Of course there are some problems that they still need to fix but they sold over 2 million on the first day it came out.
I can relate this to history class because we were learning about new inventions and the advances in technology. For example they had the the translatic cable, telephone and the type writing which helped people get in touch quicker and easier. Also there was the airplane and car that got people to travel quicker and it was a lot easier as well. My point is that even though a lot of things have changed since back in the day even back then they were updating and having advances in their technology. That is what got us to where we are today.

Test drives have been going on for a couple months that led up to Friday’s demonstration. If the train fails to slow down it will stop automatically. It’s a very expensive train but will make peoples trips a lot quicker. I picked this blog because we were talking about the railroad system and how the Chinese immigrants were working on it. The railroad that they built connected a lot of towns and cities together. The railroad helped ship things and take people places. It helped a lot of people and connected the whole world together so they had a way to get around. The railroads and trains keep improving through time and it shows how far that we have come since the Chinese railroad.

  29. My blog is about the iPad Mini vs. iPad Air. The pros of having an iPad Mini are that the word “Mini” means it is lighter and more portable then the iPad air. Some pros about having the iPad Air. ”Air” sounds light and high-end. That is what it is! Some cons about having an iPad mini are it lacks the specialness, which allows it to be inexpensive. It is still very cute. Some cons about having the iPad air is On an auditory level, too, the combination of the two flat “a” sounds, is sonically… flat.
That relates to history, because of all of the inventions that were made. An IPad is like a computer. The computer was invented in 1822 (That is including all different types of computers). It was invented by Charles Babbage. He invented the first programmable computer. It contained 25,00 parts and weighed 15 tons.

This article is about the estimated figures for the number of iPads sold from July to September. The number of sales is estimated to be between 14.8 million and 23 million, with the predictions resulting in an average of 18.38 million units and a median of 18.13 million units. These numbers are compared to the iPad's past sale figures: From April to June, 17 million iPads were sold, which is a significant jump from the 11.8 million sold from January to March. From October to December of 2011, 15.4 million iPads were sold, which was, once again, a significant jump from the 11.1 million sold from July to September of that year. The official number of iPad sales in the past three months will be announced on Thursday.
This story can relate to the monopolies that were created in the 1800's. John Rockefeller managed to utilize an efficient method to dig up and cleanse oil and turned this into a multi-million dollar business, becoming the richest person in the world at the time. He managed to shut out every small company that tried to alienate his business. Similarly, Andrew Carnegie used the Bessemer process, with the assistance of vertical integration, to create steel, and also turned it into a multi-million dollar business. Likewise, he also managed to shut out other steel-making companies in the United States.
This can relate to the article because Rockefeller and Carnegie's companies were able to make millions of dollars in short periods of time, while the iPad is making Apple millions of dollars in short timing as well, based off the figures shown in the article (and the fact that they cost around $500 a piece). The iPad could also be considered the monopoly of digital tablets, like how Rockefeller and Carnegie's companies were considered the monopolies of oil and steel, respectively. For the iPad, however, this is to a quieter extent, as while other tablets have enjoyed some success and recognition, none of them have managed to have as big as an impact on pop culture as the iPad has, and for its price, the sales are quite gigantic.

The article I read was about a new production of poisonous gases. Syria has been stocking up with a gaseous weapon. This new chemical mixture is called Sarin Gas. It’s been used many times before in World War two and for terrorist attacks. It targets the nervous system and causes spasms from your limbs to your organs. It is fatal. It was discovered when two scientists were trying to make a stronger pesticide. Syria is bringing this weapon back into the game. They have been storing this gas by their airfields.
This has to do with my social studies class because in World War One, there was a lot of development with gas weapons. Mustard gas was one of the main ones. Throughout the years, gases have been used through many wars and terrorist attacks, and these two are definitely some of the main ones.

In this article it talks about how larger companies such as Apple, Samsung, Sony and Microsoft are taking the ‘fame’, or attention, away from the smaller companies. They are telling everyone to get Apple TV but not recommending something such as a Slingbox. Some technology companies have grown so large in size that the amount of money they have often matters more than the quality of their technology. Because we have all gotten wrapped up in big name products we are not likely to try new products from companies we never heard of.
This can be compared to the late 1800’s when Rockefeller had a monopoly on oil. This meant that smaller oil companies did not have a chance to survive because they weren’t as ‘famous’, or well known as Rockefeller’s company. So the Sherman Anti-trust Act was created by the government to give the smaller companies a chance. The Sherman Anti-trust Act broke up companies that had monopolies and increase competition in the market by giving people the choice of where to buy goods and services.

  39. My article is about the military trying to develop a new weapon. This weapon is actually a laser guided lightening bold that could be used to strike cars which could disable them. This weapon is still being worked on and is not currently being used. Some issues faced is that the area where the lightening bolt should be hitting isn't always reliable. As of now the lasers can be too easily effected by there surroundings which give it a greater chance of malfunctioning.
This relates to social studies because we just learned about a war that had bunch of new weapons introduced. Some of these weapons could be dropped from planes and it was called mustard gas. This was a new thing that troops in WWI had to look out for because it would kill in a very painful way, I believe that if the "lighting-bolt" is implemented that it would be a thing that new troops would have to look out for because electrocution at a high enough voltage can kill you. Both of these weapons are examples how both new and old fighting techniques will always have new advancements that change how warfare is fought.
