In the article Racism is for Losers, Albin Sadar talks about racism. He says that people have always noticed the differences of skin color, and that it has been going on since forever. He says that many people carry on about blacks on purpose so you can hear them. He says in this article that racism should be Confronted and stopped. He talks about a pastor supporting his thoughts.
The article talks about racism and we learned about slavery in class throughout last year and this year. Racism is one main cause of slavery. Just because they are different then the "white" people, they should be treated differently. Some people still believe this today.
After the civil War, slavery was abolished and the African Americans were supposed to be treated the same as white people. Many people did not follow the law and treated the blacks as lower-class, unequal. This led to racism which still exists today.
On September 4th, a concert was being performed at the Hollow Brook Country Club in Peekskill New York, when it was suddenly disturbed. KKK members began to attack the crowd. The group managed to severely injure 13 people in the audience. Even though the local police and even the state were aware of the incident, there were no actions taken to prevent any further acts of bias. Because of the KKK, the concert was put to an end and is no longer being preformed due to the outrageous reaction of the crowd. This relates to history because the KKK formed after the civil war ended. The police that did nothing were just like the polices’ reaction to the first KKK members’ illegal actions. They did absolutely nothing to stop it. In fact, some police supported and took part in the harsh racism when the KKK first began to form. This article just shows that there are ideas that will never die out and even if the clan was eliminated, there would still be somebody who would still believe in their same ideas.
This article is about the heated debate over whether or not to allow gay marriage. The Democratic Platform showed support for gay marriage for the first time. They opted for the repeal of a federal law that defines marriage as between a man and woman. The platform also wants the nullification of a law signed by President Bill Clinton, which states that marriage is strictly between a man and woman, some federal courts have claimed this was unconstitutional. Scott Dibble, a homosexual committee member and state senator, stated, “This certainly has been a journey for many people in this country, a journey for our president.” This fight for marital equality is similar to the Civil Rights Movement. In both situations, a group is aspiring to gain equality. During the Civil Rights movement African Americans were aiming for racial equality, and now people are striving for equality in marriage.
Ku Klux Klan, often abbreviated KKK and informally known as the Klan, is the name of three distinct past and present far-right[5][6][7][8] organizations in the United States, which have advocated extremist reactionary currents such as white supremacy, white nationalism, and anti-immigration, historically expressed through terrorism.[9] Since the mid-20th century, the KKK has also been anti-communist.[9] The current manifestation is splintered into several chapters with no connections between each other; it is classified as a hate group by the Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center.[10] It is estimated to have between 3,000 and 5,000 members as of 2012.[11]
The kkk relates to the kkk back then because they are still racist today but in the reconstruction age they were worse they actually killed people.
The article i chose was about a man named Ronald Post who is convinced that he is to heavy or to fat to be executed. Post is 53 years old and weighs 480 pounds. He was convicted in 1985 for the death of Helen Vantz. Her son William laughed at this and said he would being him in on a tractor-trailer enough is enough and 30 years is to long to wait. He should be executed now for what he did. Post said he tried to loose weight more then once but the prison would always deny his request. They once let him use a bicycle but it broke under his weight so now he has to use a walker and he is at risk of falling. The reason why they had to wait 30+ years to execute him was becuase they think that his vains will get in the way and they can not find any of his vains because of how much fat he has. They say it will be painfun for him but you have to think wasn't it painful for the lady he killed?
I related this to the KKK because they went around killing people but no one would kill them. Post killed that poor lady and so far no one has killed him.
David Veins, who is a chef from Southern California, was accused of killing his wife. He has recently revealed the disturbing details on how he did it. Before he confessed, he attempt suicide. His wife was last seen on October 18th 2009. Veins confession revealed details of the last few hours of his wife’s life. Vein had worked 100 hours and all he wanted to do was go to bed. To make sure that his drunken wife wouldn’t bother him, he pushed their dresser in front of the bedroom door. Some how she was still able to get in. he kept asking her to leave him alone, soon he had had enough. He pushed her into the living room and tied her up, and duct tape her mouth. He woke up the next morning and she was dead. He had to do something, and the first thing that popped into his mind was to dump the body in the grease pit in his restaurant. Knowing that it had to be cleaned anyway, he knew that if he cooked her body and disposed of it no one would know that he did it there. This relates back to what we learned during the Reconstruction Era. How people got violent with others, like the KKK. They burned down people’s houses and even killed people. And lynchings were similar, because lynchings are public murders of people.
My article is about africam americans that are having problems with racial issues, because they are being faced with racial discrimmination, they are getting bad anxiety In the aricle it also talks about a recent survey that people who are facing racial discrimmination has a very high chance of suffering from anxiety. This articles is related to the freedmen, when they were being terrorized in the south. The KKK was the main group that terrorized them but there was still a lot of southerners hurting them that weren't part of the KKK.The african americans had problems then, and still have problems today. It is related , because racial issues cause nothing , but problems ,because the african americans aren't going to just let the white people do this, and get away with it, like back then they would all be fighting, because they would be fighting the southerners, because even though they have their rights they didn't care. My article is about a murder case. There was a party going on in New Jersey. While the party was going on one person was shot dead. Another was beaten to death. According to the Prosecuter this was all done because these people were openly gay. It was all associated with the hate crime and homosexuality. I can relate this to Native Americans because the United States promised them land and some other stuff. But once they found gold on the land they were given the Native Americans took a turn for the worst. The United States killed five-hundred Native Americans because of their race just so they got gold. -Alexa Gray http://soc202events.blogspot.com/2010/10/two-murders-based-on-hate-crime-against.html
1. THe native americans tried to make treaties with the usa but instead they lied and betrayed them. 2. The kkk has monipulized and violated african americans when they did nothing wrong. My spellings not that bad!and conners bad #$#$#$#$#$#$#TRICK#$#$#$#$#$#$#$
My article is about a 17-year old boy scout who was rejected to become an eagle scout. He has all of the qualifications to become one, but was rejected because he was gay. He openly admitted he was gay to his family and by that time it was decided that he denied his award. He was then considered not equal with his fellow peers in his troop. I can relate this when the south had finally given African Americans rights but many still didn't accept them as their equals like the KKK.The KKK still didn't see them as equals and thought they were nothing to them. Just like how the scout was denied his Eagle scout and award, the KKK tried to deny the African Americans rights. -Elrick http://www.usatoday.com/story/ondeadline/2012/10/05/boy-scouts-of-america-eagle-scout-gay/1614769/
1. During Reconstruction, the government attempted to give African-Americans more rights. 2. The Homestead Act allowed Americans to move to the west free of charge if they agreed to the government that they will farm for five years.
This article is about a ten-year-old boy in Philadelphia who saw the keys to a parked van in the back door of the van. He took the keys, and tried to steal the van. The boy started driving, but drove into some parked cars and created a mini pile-up. Eventually he got out of the van and tried to run away, but somebody caught him for the police. He was not hurt and there were no injuries reported regarding this event. He is being charged with criminal mischief, receiving stolen property, and unauthorized use of an automobile in juvenile court.
This event is like how the government took the Native American’s land. This is because the boy took what did not belong to him and did what could be considered bad things to the van, and the things he hit. He probably also made some people, like the owner of the van mad. Meanwhile, the government also took what didn’t belong to them and did what could be considered bad things to the land. They probably also made some people, like the Native Americans who lived on the land before mad.
This is a blog about a man who was a soccer player. He is from England and there was a twitter post to his friend John Terry about racism. He was criticized for defending his friend. Using racism back he, Terry and another teammate Chelsea, were banned from four matches from then on. This all happened less than two weeks before Terry was making his 100th national team appearance. The FA found them guilty of any evidence because once the tweet was made it got had over 20,000 re-tweets and then, it was deleted an hour afterwards. I relate this article to slavery and the abuse of the Native Americans. With how long all this has been around we should be getting better with racism. And it shouldn't be happening anymore. The Amendments state that all people should be treated equal no matter what their race. Slavery was a horrible period of time too. They were treated as non-human. Thats unfair. When the people were even trying to help with a terrible post on twitter and they wanted to report it, no evidence was found so once again they were found guilty.
There was a huge explosion in Lebanon today, its said that there hasnt been an attack as deadly as this since 2008. The Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, says that whenever they find out who committed this "Cowardly Terrorist" act that they would be punished. This attack was intended to kill a target, which people say they believe he is dead. This killed eight people and injured seventy eight. The explosion went off right in front of where people pick up their children from school. When interview someone said "I think Ashrafiya is a target, and 14 March is a target. This region is symbolic because it is in the heart of the capital and it is a Christian neighborhood." This relates back to what we learned with lynching, and how people publicly killed others. Also to the miners, because sometimes the mines would explode and kill everyone that was in the mine at the time, but unlike this case with the bombing being on purpose, explosions of the mines were not. tori
My article is about how the a museum in Philly is opening up a new exibit in April. The exibit is on the Prohibition Era in the early 1900's, it will consist of documents on Al Capone and other notorius mobsters and info on the 18th amendment and 21st amendment, also.
This Article is about the racial hunt down of Trayvon Martin. Trayvon Martin was a 17 year old boy who was shot and killed in Sanford Florida. He was seen to be “suspicious” according to the man who shot him, George Zimmerman. Trayvon was at a local convenient store buying iced tea and Skittles, Zimmerman was a community watch member and he thought he looked suspicious with his hood up so he followed him in a black SUV. Trayvon was said to have then punched Zimmerman in the nose panicked because he got out of the car and followed him ,and tried to run away. Zimmerman then shot him. So in this conclusion it was seemed to have been a killing for no reason except for racial terms. This can relate to back in the Reconstruction Era when the KKK was established. The KKK would kill and torment black people for no reason at all except for racial reasons. http://theweek.com/article/index/226064/trayvon-martin-vs-george-zimmerman-what-really-happened
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/woman-wear-idiot-sign-traffic-gaffe-article-1.1197276 In this news article a Cleveland women was ordered by a judge to wear a sign that says “idiot.” He ordered this because she decided that instead of waiting for children to get off the bus that she was just going to drive on the side walk to avoid being stopped. And this was not the first time she has done this. The police are aware that this wasn’t the first time she has been stopped because of driving on the side walk. They are aware that this is at least the second time it has happened. For this she had to pay a two hundred and fifty dollar fine, and stand at the intersection where it happened, wearing a sign that says “Only an idiot drives on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus.” She also lost her license for thirty days. The article relates to the Progressive era because of the Muckrakers. They tried to portray how people actually were, they shined light on all the good and bad things that people and businesses did. Mainly they were there to expose the problems of our society, much like all the entertainment tv shows.
My article is about the Meningitis outbreak that outbreak that has lead to 31 deaths. In the following states the outbreak has occurred in Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. And in the following states people have died, Florida (3), Indiana (4), Maryland (1), Michigan (7), North Carolina (1), Tennessee (13), and Virginia (2). This meningitis outbreak has been lead to the use of a steroid for back pain due to The New England Compounding Center of Framingham, MA. It has since been shut down and their products have been recalled. Many have suffered but the federal bureau is doing their best to contain these deaths. This article relates to the outbreak of alcohol mistreating from men. During the progressive era many men had gotten drunk and mistreated women and their children, they didn't realize what they were doing because they had one to many drinks.. So, a group of women got fed up so they passed the 18th amendment that led to alcohol being banned, and men were not allowed to possess, drink, and or have alcohol on them. -ian h.
This article is about how in Colorado and Washington a law passed by voter allows adults over the age of 21 to buy up to one ounce of marijuana for recreational use(fun). It states that legalizing marijuana defiantly can harm people. The drug can hurt memory and coordination. Studies have found that people who drive while under the influence of marijuana are more likely to be involved in a car crash compared to other drivers. I think this relates to what we are learning in class because we are talking about the progressive era and during that time the 18th amendment was passed which states that alcohol was illegal to sell and consume. I think it mostly connects because for one a law was passed and two, marijuana and alcohol both can harm people in many ways. Like people who use it have a greater chance in crashes and they both can hurt family lives and relationships just like the progressive era.
Today in the world about one billion people are in poverty. They don't have access to any healthcare so it leads to many deaths. It's about twenty thousand deaths per day because of poverty. Most kids dieing before the age of five. one hundred twenty one kids grow up without an education. Which means children can't get the education that they need for their futures. I can relate this to social studies because of World War 1. The main reason is because of the health conditions they were in when they were stuck in the trenches for about four years. With rats running across their feet and eating the rotting bodies. Also lots of body odor due to lack of showers. Almost everybody had lice from sharing clothes and just in very poor conditions which sometimes led to death. This relates to poverty because families can't afford healthcare which means if they get sick or hurt they wouldn't have anywhere to go. That meant death kind of like how people were in the trenches because they were fighting in war they couldn't go anywhere and had to try and fight through the disease or injury. Alexa Gray http://www.globalissues.org/article/26/poverty-facts-and-stats
This article is about the recent Powerball lottery drawing. There were two people who matched all six numbers to win the record $579,900,000 jackpot, but neither of them were from Pennsylvania or New Jersey. However, three people from Pennsylvania and eight people in New Jersey managed to match five numbers, netting them each $1,000,000. In addition, there were also two people from New Jersey that won $40,000 and another 29 folks from the same state that won $10,000. Finally, 450,773 people from New Jersey also won cash prizes between $4 and $200, with a total between them of nearly $2,750,000. Overall, 450,781 Powerball tickets sold in New Jersey had monetary value. This story can relate to the beginning of World War I. Austria-Hungary and Serbia initially began war over the death of Franz Ferdinand, but other countries quickly began jumping into the war. Russia was preparing to attack Austria-Hungary shortly after the war began, but Germany decided to declare war on Russia because Austria-Hungary was its ally. Because of this, Germany also declared war on France for being Russia's ally. Finally, England declared war on Germany to protect France and Belgium, two of its allies. With these factors in place, the first battles of World War I began not even a month following Austria-Hungary's war declaration on Serbia. This can relate to the article because it didn't take long for a large amount of countries to join World War I, just as how it didn't take long for people to participate in the Powerball drawing. Over 450,000 New Jersey residents managed to possess a winning ticket, which is similar to Austria-Hungary, Russia, and England having an exceptional number of allies.
This article is about many nations around the world possess weapons. Such as nuclear, chemical, biological or other types of weapons. Also how in recent years there has been more and more laws to control the weapons. It also says that many nations have weapons in fear of attack
I think this connects to what we are learning in class. It connects to it because we are learning about World War 1. And during that time they had a lot of different types of weapons. They were allowed to have weapons without a licenses or anything. They didn't need to do anything to show that they were allowed to have a weapon. Also when it says nations today have fear of attack it connects to World War 1. When they were fighting they could get an attack at any minute so they needed to have all their weapons ready to fight.
this article is about students at Cedar Falls high school in Iowa. The article is saying how many teenagers are simply not making good food decisions at there every day lunch. The school wanted to take action and try to divide food groups better into a teenagers diet with meat, fruit, veggies, whole grains and very minimal desserts. Trying o get students to do this can be very hard.
Students say that getting them to forcebly eat food can e dumb. others say its great, but most say they dont want to pay for something they dont want to eat. Its very hard to meet in the middle with these things to students and noone can really win. A teenagers mind can e such a strange thing sometimes and others will never understand it. I related this article to when America was having rat infections and other caused diseases in their food and needed regulations to check out the food. -Avery Fritz http://wcfcourier.com/news/local/new-lunch-food-rules-aren-t-sitting-well-with-many/article_2533bf9e-0cfe-542b-8251-3d307dcea5a0.html?comment_form=true
For the Steelers, starting out as quarter back for the third week in a row was third string player Charlie Batch. Pittsburg trailed behind the Baltimore Ravens 13-3 in the first half of the game last night, but came back in the last quarter after they were down 20-13. If the Ravens would have won this game the would have clinched a spot in the playoffs, but they lost for the first time in 13 games against there biggest division rivals. With a score of 20-13 with about 11 minutes left Batch threw a 7 yard touch down to tie the game with 7:24 minutes left in the game.
During world war one, when the people got injured they were taken to the hospital. After they were done at the hospital sometimes they got time to go back home and see there family. Or they could just have the time off from the war. This is like the Steelers game because Ben Roethlisberger is not playing because he has been injured. His team needs to be able to step up and play their best with out him, which is exactly what Charlie Batch did last night coming out with the W. TORI
In New Mexico an inmate plotted to murder Justin Bieber then castrate him. The man was obessed with him and after Justin didn’t write back to him jail he started to plot his revenge. He got three other men to help him. Last week McDonald called his nephew to arrange the final details and police overheard his conversation and arrested him. When they went to arrest his nephew they found shrub cutters, chainsaws, hand ties, and knifes. They were planning to go to a meet and greet with him and then kidnap him and his bodyguards. I related this to assentation of Ausrtria-Hungarys prince. Except this one didn’t work out.
Early this morning in Memphis Tennessee Police Chief Toney Armstrong said officers went to a home to serve a drug related search. He says that the suspect opened fire striking the two police officers that went. The officers returned fire, in the process they shot one of the suspects. One of the two officers was shot multiple times, but they didn’t say which shot caused his fatal outcome. The suspect was also taken to the hospital, the second person who was in the home is now in custody, but no charges have been filed. These two officers have been the tenth and eleventh to be shot since Police Chief Armstrong took over the department in April 2011. This goes to show that too many criminals in Memphis own guns. This relates back to when immigration was starting in the cities. The cities got to be so big that the criminal acts started to get higher and higher. One of the reform acts was to start a police department which helped this because someone was in control of all the violence happening. Because the cities were starting to become so unsafe, another thing that they did was put more street lights up.
I did my blog on a man who was a former police man and he killed a Russian journalist six years ago. But, recently authorities found out that he had commited the murder. No one really knows why he wanted to kill him. He said it had to be done. I related this to WWI because in WWI people who weren't on our side were killed automatically? Like those people could be great, nice, genuine people but because they are not apart of our country they deserved to die. I don't understand it, and i don't think i ever will.
A 73 year old man named Jack McCullough was convicted this fall of kidnapping and murdering a 7 year old girl named Maria Ridolph in December 1957, more than half a century ago. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. This case is one of the oldest unsolved crimes in American history to go on trial. What prosecutors said had happened was Jack approached Maria and another girl playing in front of Maria's house. He played with them for a bit and when the other girl ran home to get her mittens, prosecutors said he dragged Maria into an alley choked her with a wire, and then stabbed her in the throat and chest. Then, prosecutors said, he loaded her body into his car and drove more than 100 miles away, where he dumped it into a wooded area. I connected this story to what we learned about WW1 when prince F and his wife we kidnapped and killed in Austria-Hungary. They both had kidnapping and murdering involved in their story.
A Memphis police officer was killed early Friday. He was serving at a drug warrant. Two officers were shot. One was killed; the other was wounded and taken to the hospital. As for the suspect, he was shot by an officer and taken to the hospital. The police officer had another man in custody, but no charges were immediately filed. "Nobody has a Second Amendment right to load up and kill a police officer," said one of the police officers as they were standing outside of the hospital. This story shows how dangerous it is to be a Police. They put their lives at risk just so we are safe. This relates to the 18th amendment. The 18th amendment was to band alcohol. When the men drank alcohol, they did crazy things to their wife and kids. When someone drinks too much, they don’t have much control over their bodies anymore. This is like the story, because when a person is taking drugs they can do crazy things.
My blog is about an Elementary school shooting in Connecticut. There were some injured and some deaths that were reported. They don’t know how many deaths there were but there are at least 20 injured victims. Most of the shooting was done in a kindergarten classroom and they have reported the gunman as dead. The gunman had two guns. The shooting happened in Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown which is in western Connecticut. A third grader said the police was checking every person that was leaving or going to the school after the report of the shooting. They do not know if there was a second gunman or not but the kids were taken to safety. I can relate this to World War I because there was a lot of shooting going on and there was a lot of deaths and injured people. I can also relate this because this was a scary thing for those kids, having to experience this and it was also scary for the men who risked their life just to fight in the war. ~Taylor C
This article was about a man who went to an elementary school and killed a bunch of kids and teachers. Authorities also say he killed one other person somewhere else and himself. This happened in Newton, Connecticut. The gunman went through the school, shooting and killing people in front of little kids. This event is America’s second-deadliest school shooting, and 20 elementary school kids died from it. Parents went to the school to make sure their kids were okay. The police told the kids to close their eyes as they went away from the school.
This article relates to when we learned about how German submarines killed Americans during World War I, when America wasn’t even fighting in the war. These two things are similar because they both involved killing Americans. For example the submarines killed Americans who were on the British passenger ship, the Lusitania, and Americans on American merchant ships. Meanwhile this gunman killed American adults and children. Also the children probably didn’t attack the gunman or anything, like how the Lusitania and American merchant ships weren’t attacking Germany or German submarines when the submarines attacked the boats, so that’s another way these two things are related.
This article was about the school shooting that went on yesterday morning at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. An armed man went into the school killing twenty innocent children and six innocent adults, one being his own mother that worked there as a kindergarten teacher. Not soon after he took his own life. This man obviously thought his reason for killing these innocent people was good. But now the kids can't live the life that they had ahead of them.
This article relates to world war one. I can relate it to this becuase there were many deaths in the war and populations dropped. Almost all the guys there were forced to be in the army and kill the "enemy". So these were guys that didn't want to kill these innocent people but they were forced to because that was what they were trained to do when they were chosen. An example is in the movie we watched a guy had stabbed another guy and they were laying in a hole on ground zero. The guy that was injured wasn't dead by morning so the other guy actually tried helping him. This made me realize that the guy had felt bad and didn't want to be doing this because this man that he had just stabbed never did anything to him. All in all men in world war one were killing innocent people just like the man in the school was doing.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/michael-gerson-we-are-not-helpless-against-gun-violence/2012/12/17/68cd94a4-4882-11e2-ad54-580638ede391_story.html The article I picked was about the recent current events that occurred on Friday the 14th this article explains that we are not helpless against gun violence. And that this was an attack on innocent people and we should stop trying to cover up gun violence and start to take control. This article reminded me of what we have been learning about the world war one and how the attack on the Lusitania merchant ship was an attack on innocent people that never should of happened and that’s one reason why the us got involved the world war one. And the attack on Lusitania and the attack on sandy hook elementary school was both tragic and left a big impact in the us and changed how we take a view on things because us acted in war which got us involved in the world war one because we were protecting our country and now since we heard about sand hook are schools are trying to really crack down on security also were also trying to pass a low on the guns to control these types of out bursts.
The murdder of all the kids and teachers was caused by a syco person. he had planned out this whole ordeal. but the FBI could not figure out why this guy would do something like this. this storey is very traagic and upsetting ecspecially to the parents that lost ther kids. I am realating this to the trench warfare that we talked about in class. just like what happened the people that were in trench warefare went crazy and shot them selves. but unlike the murder they had a reason, they were in harsh conditions. so i realate this to what we learned in class
http://articles.washingtonpost.com/2012-12-14/politics/35846598_1_schools-administrator-gunman-public-shootings My article is about a shooting at a school in Conneticut. twenty eight people were killed. Twenty of them were kids, from ages five to ten, the eight were adults, and there was a person who was injured, but dtill alive. After the shooting was done the shooter then killed himself. I rleated this to the time after World War one. There were a lot of gangsters, and mobs forming in cities, and they would kill innocent people. The mobs would smuggle alcohol, because it was illegal back then. Mike C
well this story can relate to when alcapon hired several people to go in on a money transfer and kill several people the were transporting it. but this it alot less violent an man was just joggging past a elementary school and had a hood up and was susspected of having a gun and a ski mask on so no as bad. but these to relate beacuase they both had alot of thought put into finding the real story and they both had madjur police enforcement.

ReplyDeleteThis article is about the heated debate over whether or not to allow gay marriage. Scott Dibble, a homosexual committee member and state senator, stated, “This certainly has been a journey for many people in this country, a journey for our president.”
This fight for marital equality is similar to the Civil Rights Movement. In both situations, a group is aspiring to gain equality. During the Civil Rights movement African Americans were aiming for racial equality, and now people are striving for equality in marriage.

ReplyDeleteKu Klux Klan, often abbreviated KKK and informally known as the Klan, is the name of three distinct past and present far-right[5][6][7][8] organizations in the United States, which have advocated extremist reactionary currents such as white supremacy, white nationalism, and anti-immigration, historically expressed through terrorism.[9] Since the mid-20th century, the KKK has also been anti-communist.[9] The current manifestation is splintered into several chapters with no connections between each other; it is classified as a hate group by the Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center.[10] It is estimated to have between 3,000 and 5,000 members as of 2012.[11]
The kkk relates to the kkk back then because they are still racist today but in the reconstruction age they were worse they actually killed people.
ReplyDeletePost said he tried to loose weight more then once but the prison would always deny his request.

ReplyDeleteVein had worked 100 hours and all he wanted to do was go to bed.

ReplyDeleteI can relate this to Native Americans because the United States promised them land and some other stuff. ReplyDeleteI can relate this when the south had finally given African Americans rights but many still didn't accept them as their equals like the KKK.The KKK still didn't see them as equals and thought they were nothing to them. Just like how the scout was denied his Eagle scout and award, the KKK tried to deny the African Americans rights.

ReplyDeleteThis is a blog about a man who was a soccer player.

ReplyDeleteWhen interview someone said "I think Ashrafiya is a target, and 14 March is a target. This region is symbolic because it is in the heart of the capital and it is a Christian neighborhood."
This relates back to what we learned with lynching, and how people publicly killed others. Also to the miners, because sometimes the mines would explode and kill everyone that was in the mine at the time, but unlike this case with the bombing being on purpose, explosions of the mines were not.

ReplyDeleteIn this news article a Cleveland women was ordered by a judge to wear a sign that says “idiot.” He ordered this because she decided that instead of waiting for children to get off the bus that she was just going to drive on the side walk to avoid being stopped.

ReplyDeleteThis article relates to the outbreak of alcohol mistreating from men. During the progressive era many men had gotten drunk and mistreated women and their children, they didn't realize what they were doing because they had one to many drinks.. ReplyDeleteThis article is about how in Colorado and Washington a law passed by voter allows adults over the age of 21 to buy up to one ounce of marijuana for recreational use(fun).
Like people who use it have a greater chance in crashes and they both can hurt family lives and relationships just like the progressive era.

i dont think its fair that some states deney gay marriages. everyone should have equal rights no matter what your sexual orataion is.
ReplyDeleteToday in the world about one billion people are in poverty. They don't have access to any healthcare so it leads to many deaths. It's about twenty thousand deaths per day because of poverty. Most kids dieing before the age of five. one hundred twenty one kids grow up without an education. Which means children can't get the education that they need for their futures.
ReplyDeleteI can relate this to social studies because of World War 1.

ReplyDeleteThis article is about the recent Powerball lottery drawing.

ReplyDeleteI think this connects to what we are learning in class.

If the Ravens would have won this game the would have clinched a spot in the playoffs, but they lost for the first time in 13 games against there biggest division rivals. During world war one, when the people got injured they were taken to the hospital. After they were done at the hospital sometimes they got time to go back home and see there family. Or they could just have the time off from the war. This is like the Steelers game because Ben Roethlisberger is not playing because he has been injured. ReplyDeleteEarly this morning in Memphis Tennessee Police Chief Toney Armstrong said officers went to a home to serve a drug related search.

The mobs would smuggle alcohol, because it was illegal back then.
