My article was about how the SS gave Paul Ryan the code name BowHunter. Why? He is know for hisskill in bowhunting. This article relates to how we been talking about the canidates.
My article is about our current president, Barack Obama. It talks about how he made history when he was elected because he was the first african american president. Obama got the point across the USA about racial prejudice. The article also compares him to previous presidents like George Washinton and Thomas Jefferson. Obama also made a lot of other accomplishments that are mentioned in the article. This article can relate to what I learned last year because we talked a lot about presidents and what they did for their country. For example George Washinton was the first president and was also in charge of the continental army. He accomplished a lot while he was in charge. Also Abraham Lincoln in the civil war led to the end of slavery. This relates to my article because if the end of slavery never happened Barack Obama would not be president. Also Washington and most of the other presidents made history along with Barack Obama. Obama is a great president and so was the others so that is why I chose this article. I knew that it would be able to compare to the previous presidents we had. Some presidents did better then others but so far Obama is making history just like a few others did. article website: http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/04/barack_obama_making_history_again.html -Alexa G.
My story is about notre dames 43 games winning streak runed the navy in 2007. But still in 2007, 2008, and 2009 the navy still was beating notre dame. so this was time for notre dame to redeem them selfs and they did with a big win in 2011.
This article is about former President Bill Clinton campaigning to people to re-elect Barack Obama for President this year, and how the partnership between the two got up to this point. One notable detail is that they were rivals during the previous Presidential election in 2008, due to the fact that Bill’s wife, Hillary Clinton, was also running for President. After he was inaugurated in 2009, however, Obama decided to make Hillary Clinton his Secretary of State, and that began Barack and Bill’s partnership together. This story can relate to something that I learned last year; it reminded me of the “corrupt bargain” that happened in 1824, with the Speaker of the House at the time, Henry Clay, campaigning for John Quincy Adams to become President, and telling people to not vote for Andrew Jackson, who was the other Presidential candidate. John Quincy Adams would end up winning the election that year, and after he was inaugurated, Adams made Henry Clay his Secretary of State. The “corrupt bargain” relates to the article because a well-known political figure is campaigning for a Presidential candidate. It’s also interesting to note that Hillary Clinton, who is the husband of Bill, ended up becoming Obama’s Secretary of State, while Henry Clay, who was campaigning for John Quincy Adams, ended up becoming Adams’ Secretary of State.
This article is about Mitt Romney and how he opened day one of the fall campaign sprint. He talks to reporters to put himself out there. He hosts rally so he can talk and get people to like him. Romney attended a rally in virginia and a take in a nascar race.He also recieves alot of exclusive interviews about his election. This reminded me of what we learned last year about the priesedents elections and all that they go throught to get publicity and people to vote for them. Also how they have to get along with the other running people so people will think that they are nice.
President Barack Obama picked up support following the Democratic national Convention. Which widened his lead over opponent Mitt Romney, a daily tracking pole showed that forty-seven percent of voters surveyed would most likely vote Obama if the November elections were held today. Obama surpassed Romney in the daily poll tracking on friday, leading forty six percent to forty four. Obama's lead increased due to some of his favorable characteristic. When the survey asked who was smarter for the job, Obama got forty six percent and Romney got thirty seven. The only category that Romney got more votes in was "a man of faith" voters voted forty four percent compared to Obama's thirty one.
This does not really have anything to do with my last social studies class, because last year i took world cultures. But it has a lot to do with history in general, because the elections means a lot to how our government is run. U.S history is based on the rights given to us by our constitution. Granted through the 19th amendment is the right of citizens to vote no matter their sex. My family's philosophy is if you dont vote you can not complain, so stand up for the rights granted to you . We are one of the few democratic nations we can have a say to make a change.
The article I chose is about two US border agents who were shot during their duty, and one other agent who was not shot. The border agents were going to check out what was going on because the alarm was triggered and set off the sensors along the border. One of them was shot in the ankle and in the butt and it is nonlife-threatening. The second agent died Tuesday. And the third was not shot but witnessed the whole thing. One reporter said that this kind of thing reminds us all about the danger men and women put themselves into just to protect our lives. I related this to the Indians and Americans. I related it to this because Americans would shoot/kill the Indians for no reason and they got hurt because of it and the one border agent was shot and the other was killed because some guy had nothing better but to kill someone and badly hurt another. ~Taylor C hose

For my blog post I am doing it on the recent Mitt Romney comments saying that he is maybe going to cut funding for the PBS channel. He is going to maybe cut funding for the PBS channel because PBS runs on government funding which means everyone who has a job pays taxes for it and if they cut the funding for it then people will have more money coming in their household. At the same time though PBS is a very good channel and provides very good shows for children and adults to watch. So if we were to get rid of it I’d be really sad because I really like PBS and imp betting I am not the only one. Mitt Romney makes sense though because if we were to cut government funding people would be having more money from their paycheck. I do agree with what Mitt Romney is saying and I wouldn't be to upset because my parents would have more money. Ian H.
This article was about the election f 2012 2013. It says that Obama had a boost because the job rate has increased. So there are more jobs. Obama is in the lead so far but people are worried because he didn’t really do anything in his first term . Romney is not that far behind though he still has a lot of time to get his votes and to still campaign around. I think that this relates to what we have been learning in class because we kind of have been talking about the election somewhat. But also we have been talking about the Native Americans and the Americans. And that kind of reminds me of the election. And how they struggled to do what was right but eventually the native Americans technically wind up losing because they did lose their land they were no longer nomadic herders and the American’s just changed everything about them. I did my current events on the Voter ID Law. In the article it says how in order to vote you have to show a valid picture ID. The Demarcate don’t like the new law because they say it would harm the right to vote of minorities and the low-income voters because a lot of them do not have a valid picture ID. The Republicans argue that the Voter ID Law will help reduce the election fraud. The Voter ID Law is similar to when the African Americans couldn’t really vote. With the Voter ID Law you must have a recent ID at the time of the election. This is unfair for many low-income families, homeless, elderly and the minorities. Back in the 1800 voting was unfair for the African Americans because they had to pay a tax if they wanted to vote and they were poor. Also they had to read and explain a part of the constitution and the African Americans couldn’t read. Another way it was unfair for the African Americans was the grandfather clause. It said that if they had a grandfather or father that was eligible to vote, they would be eligible to vote too. Because of the African Americans being former slaves they did not know who their grandfathers were.
http://www.northjersey.com/news/NJ_minimum_wage_resolution_gets_hearing.html There has been debate on whether minimum wage should be raised recently. This argument has been constantly going on for a long time now, but the President of the senate is beginning to fight for it. One of the issues mentioned that raising minimum wage would help are the citizens who cannot get by with 40-50 hours of work a week. He says that many people believe that minimum wage is for kids trying to bring in a little extra money over the summer. All though this is partly true, many people are trying to survive on this minimum wage and might be without a home if it is not raised soon. This relates to my social studies class because we are currently learning about a large advancement in business and in result, robber barons. Robber barons could be gaining so much money for themselves by taking advantage of the lack of a minimum wage. This law would be of much help for the “slaves” suffering from these terrible working conditions.

The Greeks are mad and protesting because they are falling into debt and poverty because of their government’s choices. “The measures just never stop. I am doing my blog on the book called The Jungle that we learned about in class. The book was about how bad the food was in that time period. About the poor conditions that the workers had and the food that they were being served. They would sometimes find rats and other gross stuff within their food. But because it was all they had they ate it. This was not very good conditions for them to be working in especially because the food they were eating put them in very bad health conditions.
I am connecting this to the presidential debate that just ended. Obama and Romney were fighting about healthcare back and forth. Romney was saying what poor conditions people were in because they could not afford health care for themselves and their families. I can relate this to the food conditions back in the day because it put them in a bad health condition and they could not afford to do anything about it and it was their only job so they kept going. -Alexa Gray
so my website article is about how Obama wins re election it states that as of 2 am on Wednesday that Obama has won the election with 53,924,808 votes in the election and Romney only had 53,124,118 votes and president Obama had 303 electoral collage votes and Romney only had 203 electoral college votes. I think this relates to what we have been talking about in history because we would discuss who we thought would make a good president also we had some homework assignments were we had to watch the debate. also it relates because we got to vote on a machine in class for are Souderton area high school mock election and Obama whined up winning also I think that Obama winning the election has related to what we have been learning in class also I think it relates to us learning about progressivism because I think Obama is a progressive president because him and the first lady have really been trying to help out obesity and really trying to address it and help make are country eat more healthy. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/election-2012/wp/2012/11/09/carney-obama-crying-video-was-not-a-media-event/ My article was about Obama crying after being elected. He was making a speech about his plans and ideas for the future and how to make America better when he begins crying through thankfulness. This video was uploaded on YouTube and went viral immediately. This article has to do with my social studies class because there really was no chance that a colored man would ever be chosen to be in office during the progressive era. America was working on removing racism but they never would have dreamed to eventually be as successful as we are now. It takes real acceptance to vote a colored man into office twice. Our country has made much progress with many things, but our acceptance for each other is outstanding.
President Obama beat Governor Romney in the presidential election. Obama won the election in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Ohio, among other states. These states were also swing states. The only swing state Romney got was North Carolina. When this article came out, nobody knew what Florida’s results were, but even if Romney won in Florida, he still lost the election. Romney tried to win in the Midwestern states, but failed. In Obama’s victory speech, Obama thanked every American who voted, and said he’d solve the country’s problems with Democrats and Republicans.
This relates to an event we learned in History class this year because it relates to when we learned about Theodore Roosevelt and how people got rid of monopolies. One reason why these two things are related is because both things involve people who were presidents. They are also related because both presidents, Roosevelt and Obama both did good things as president. For example Roosevelt got rid of a lot of monopolies, which treated people badly by overcharging them, and being mean to their workers while he was president. Meanwhile Obama helped kill Osama Bin Laden who was a terrorist, and an enemy of America while he was president.
Voting is a way of freedom for people who want to make a difference in the world. It also gives woman more rights . Also gives them a way to let out there views. This gives people a person who don't know what to choose have a person to choose.
On November 6, 2012 everyone lined up, and started voting for their new President of the US. Everyone started voting around 7 a.m. This year, in New Jersey and New York some places had to vote in the dark. People had flashlights so they could see. In New Jersey, they had to switch some of their voting spots. In the 1900s, women were not allowed to vote. They didn’t have the rights that the men did. They had to stay home and cook, clean and watch over the children. That was all about to change. On August 18, 1920 women were allowed to start voting. The 16th amendment stated that women can now vote. It took about six decades for them to finally say that women were allowed to vote. I believe that women should have been allowed to vote the whole time. I believe everyone should have been equal.

ReplyDeleteMy article was about Obama crying after being elected.

ReplyDeleteIn the 1900s, women were not allowed to vote.

ReplyDeleteThe eagles are a sports team that never won the super bowl, i thought this might be their year like everyone else, but they are doing poorly. I thought they would win because they got vick. even though he had a rough futer i thought he could help the team win.
This relates to social studies becasue in the war the allies and central powers were evenly matched that is before the u.s came into it then the u.s blew away fthe central powers this is like when vick joined the eagles they sucked then they got pretty good.
